Increasing Access to Essential Medicines in Developing Countries: Strategies and Barriers

What is a SDS

Student Directed Seminars are led by students, and supported by a faculty sponsor. They are three-credit courses. In this SDS, we will meet twice weekly. Readings will be assigned for each class to form the base for discussion and inquiry. Each student will facilitate one class. During that class they will lead discussion on the assigned readings and present a journal article relevant to the topic at hand.

Learning in this seminar will be enriched by various guest speakers, including Dr. Kishor Wasan (UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences), Dr. Bob Hancock (UBC Microbiology and Immunology), Dr. William Bowie (UBC Medicine, Infectious Diseases division), Dr. Charles Larson (BCCH Centre for International Child Health), Dr. Richard Lester (BCCDC), and others.
